Tell us about yourself. When and why did you connect with cinema for the first time? Where are you living and working now?
 GGIFF journalist
I am from Socorro, NM.  Still live there. I have been in entertainment my whole life. Worked every job from janitor to writer. Now my acting is doing amazing with my parts on Fox's The Cleaning Lady and in Kevin Costner's series Horizon. And the script that has taken me around the world, I am happy.

You are participating in our festival with your screenplay “Time”. This is your debut work? Why did you decide to write a screenplay at this point?

 GGIFF journalist
Yes. This is my debut work as a writer. I have written two published articles on the Smithsonian Institution Museum On Main Street Series. I was feeling down and out because my acting had came to a complete stop during pandemic. I didn’t go anywhere for almost a whole year. I wanted to hear and read and feel a funny, happy story so I sat down with my memories from rhe jam scene in Albuquerque and my formatting from UNM. Time came out. I saved it as I wrote it because I wanted my peers to see my real work. I didn’t even edit it. Turns out they love it. I couldn’t be more happy with the results.

Did you write something before, or you decided to start straight from scriptwriting?
 GGIFF journalist
I had taken a class in screenplay writing at The University Of New Mexico and had done some screenplay writing assignments there. I had never written professionally in any before Time.

What is your goal for “Time”? Do you want to make a movie based on it by yourself, or you are looking for someone who will do it?
 GGIFF journalist
I had the show in mind from what’s going on right now. I left the story wide open for a movie(s) or series. I could use some investment help and the whole world when it comes production time.

Do you have any other screenplays ready?
 GGIFF journalist
I wrote the pilot and first episode of Time. I have a golf sitcom I wrote as well. Just the pilot so far. But I mean ideas come all the time. My acting is having fun right now. That’s awesome for me. More experience to put in to writing, you know!

What is special being an indie screenwriter in your country? What are the benefits, and what are the problems?
 GGIFF journalist
The feeling is amazing. You can put your thoughts and ideas, your hopes, and dreams down, fact or fiction, and write a story. You can format a script and submit that script to festivals all over the world. It’s a dream come true. There are no drawbacks because it is truly you and your dreams. Awesome folks help out too supporting and things like that and it makes for the best time of my life.

In your statement you mentioned that your parents always supported you. Are they connected with cinema? If yes, did you ask them for help to grow in this direction?
 GGIFF journalist
My mom and dad have always been my biggest support. I had mentioned in an interview my dad was emotionally abusive, but we got past that. Like right now is what's important. And right now, is me, my script, and all the fun times ahead.

Do you think, is it possible to make a good movie, without a good screenplay?
 GGIFF journalist
It is possible. You just have to want to try to make that picture. No script all feeling and just a story to go from. It sounds like fun just describing it.

What is the hardest part of screenwriting process?

 GGIFF journalist
Formatting. There are some people who just are amazing at formatting, but I suck at formatting.

Which topic do you want to raise in your scripts, or in which genre you want to work?

 GGIFF journalist
Dreams come true when you believe you can do the amazing. In no way would I have ever dreamed of this, but I am sure glad to be living it.

I am thrilled with my first work, Time. Next comes the production part and getting all the necessary things together to see the show come to life.
